AS FEATURED IN
Every patient’s path to healing is unique.
With an integrative approach to physical therapy and wellness, Shannon brings customized experiences to each and every client.
Have you ever noticed that your pain is worse after a poor night's sleep or when there is a deadline at work approaching? Do you feel better after engaging in physical activity or a night with friends? Pain is complex. It is influenced by many factors such as thought patterns, beliefs, social connectivity, sleep, and stress. Every person’s pain experience is different, and each person also has their own goals for treatment. In order to create lasting change, care should not be a one size fits all approach.
At Shannon Leggett Physical Therapy, we believe:
Every patient deserves high-quality, patient-centered care.
Every patient deserves to be empowered to transform their health.
Every patient deserves expert attention.
Shannon Leggett Physical Therapy is a concierge mobile practice. We can deliver the care that every patient deserves regardless of their location or insurance situation.
Move. Breathe. Connect.
“I want others to feel like they have a connection with me. I want them to feel like family. There are so many choices out there. I want them to feel like they are home with me, safe, and there’s no reason to go elsewhere.”
Rise Above the Ordinary
A holistic perspective on physical therapy
Shannon offers integrative physical therapy for patients of all ages and activity levels. When getting to know a new patient, Shannon takes a “whole person” approach that incorporates the patient’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being as well as their lifestyle and stress factors. Stress and lifestyle contribute to inflammation in the body which can influence our pain response.
Physical Therapy. . .
Shannon offers comprehensive physical therapy for all ages and activity levels. Physical therapy is the core foundation of Shannon’s practice, and each patient is evaluated based on their strength, flexibility, posture, lifestyle, among many other factors. A comprehensive treatment program is created based on Shannon’s findings that may include manual therapy, corrective exercises, ergonomics, behavior modification, and more.
Yoga . . .
As part of her philosophy that healing comes from treating the whole being, Shannon incorporates yoga into her practice. She offers Vinyasa Yoga and Restorative Yoga in person or online in both private and semi private (2-3 people) settings. She also offers virtual and outdoor group yoga for those who are looking to incorporate some yoga into their wellness journey.
Wellness Training . . .
For those who have completed physical therapy but want to continue enhancing their fitness with professional guidance, or for those who are looking to return to a regular exercise routine and need help getting started, Shannon offers wellness training. Each person will be evaluated and a program will be designed based on individual needs and goals.

Meet Shannon
Shannon is a passionate, outside-the-box thinker who is a champion for her clients on their journey to health and wellness.
Two decades of healing people of all ages.
After graduating with her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 1999, Shannon began her career in a small community hospital. During her tenure, she was exposed to all aspects of physical therapy care. Her training included acute care, home care, outpatient orthopedics, and various wellness-based projects. It was during this time that she fell in love with treating orthopedics and building wellness/prevention programming. Since transitioning out of the hospital setting, Shannon has worked in several outpatient clinics in NYC where she has had the opportunity to help care for patients of all ages and facilitate their healing journey from a wide variety of injuries. She has learned from some of the leading physicians in NYC as well as the leaders in her profession. Whether you are trying to avoid surgery, had surgery, or are a weekend warrior that wants to get back to the court, Shannon uses her years of experience to help you reach your goals.
Shannon’s evolution towards a more integrative approach to orthopedic care was born from her years of working with clients in Midtown where the philosophy “work hard, play hard” is celebrated. Recognizing that lifestyle choices and stress had an effect on how her patients felt and recovered, she realized she could make more of an impact if she had further training to help her clients address multiple systems. As a long-time practitioner of yoga, Shannon knew firsthand the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of the practice. Yoga seemed like the perfect complement to her physical therapy background, and she completed her 200-hour teacher training in 2016. Since then, Shannon has also done restorative teacher training in addition to continuing education revolving around pain science, neuroscience, nutrition, and lifestyle management. She believes that her combination of physical therapy and yoga-based treatment is truly transformative.
Known for having “healing hands,” Shannon takes a hands-on approach to treatment, movement, and education. She sees herself as a concierge for her clients, and she maintains these deep relationships by bringing the care to them- in their office, their homes, or even their computer screens.
An athlete herself, Shannon has had first-hand experience in dealing with the setbacks that come from physical injury. From her own experience, Shannon understands that an integrative approach to healing is necessary for lasting results. When dealing with a traumatic injury, a repetitive stress injury, or stress-related health issues, it is imperative that the patient is treated from a standpoint that views the body as a sum of multiple systems working together. Therefore, many systems need to be addressed: musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal/gut health, nervous system, etc. These complex systems must be addressed on both a physical level and a nervous system level as well. Shannon’s fusion of holistic and orthopedic has developed into a unique rehabilitation process rooted in evidence-based practice that improves the lives of patients of all ages.
Shannon is certified in Integrative Lifestyle Medicine Management and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

FAQs
Does Shannon take insurance?
No. In order to provide convenient and quality care, Shannon has chosen not to have a direct relationship with insurance companies. Payment for services rendered will be required at the end of every session. Shannon would be considered an out-of-network provider by insurance companies. If you have out-of-network benefits, Shannon does provide invoices that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Prior to your first session, it is highly recommended that you reach out to your insurance company to understand your out-of-network benefits. Important information to know would be the number of visits allowed per year, amount of deductible, percentage rate of reimbursement, and whether precertification or authorization of visits is required.
How long is a session?
Each one-on-one session is an hour long. Group classes vary in length, depending on the class.
How do I pay?
Shannon accepts cash, credit cards, HSA/FSA, and checks.
Do I need a prescription?
New York State law allows you to have direct access to a physical therapist. This means that you can be evaluated and treated by a PT without going to a physician first. If treatment extends beyond 10 visits or a 30 day time frame (whichever comes first), a prescription will be required. Shannon can help you find a physician that would best suit your needs.
What do I need if you come to my home or office?
All that is needed is comfortable clothing and a space to talk and move. Shannon will bring everything that she will need to treat you. If you have exercise equipment or a gym in your building, Shannon will be happy to incorporate that into your session.
Does Shannon have an office?
Shannon’s services are mobile to offer the highest flexibility for her clients. If you have the space, she will come to you at your home or office. She can also book space for your appointment if necessary.
How do virtual PT sessions work?
Virtual PT sessions will be done via a HIPAA compliant platform. Shannon will schedule a time to meet. Sessions will be very much like those in the clinic. Your first session will be an evaluation and based on findings and goals, Shannon will design a treatment program. Each follow-up session will include expert guidance through therapeutic exercises, self-myofascial release techniques, mobility drills as well as patient education. Virtual sessions are highly effective and empowering. It puts the care in your hands!
